Jefferson Parish Department of Parks & Recreation
Located along the East Bank at 3000 Downs Boulevard in Metairie,
Louisiana, offers a large variety of amenities and recreational
opportunities from it's large open meadow area which is used for large
gatherings like the Fourth of July celebration, to Marsh Island which is a
great area to see and learn about endemic flora and fauna of Louisiana. An
elevated walkway to the gazebo at Marsh Island serves as a popular area to
feed ducks, geese and swans. |

| Featuring a 20 acre lagoon which
winds throughout the park, Lafreniere Park also offers the Parterre Garden &
Children's Memorial Garden, a man-made waterfall, picnic shelters throughout
the park, 2 Tot Play areas, a Carousel, Health Trac, Frisbee Golf Course,
Soccer fields, Softball fields, an 80' Pavilion which is popular for special
events, and the Foundation Center which is popular for weddings and parties. |
